Gerardo Sarasty Moncayo
Agricultural EngineerThrough my journey through the coffee growing sector as technical adviser I have been privileged to take part in the different social investment projects that have been done in different zones of Colombia through the Carcafe foundation. These projects have strengthened the family union of many farmers around the coffee crops, the work of the community, the defense of the environment, the improvement in educational institutions, and their housing.
The projects have given me one of the best opportunities to carry out the technical assistance and the rural extension, which have been, for me, one of the most important activities, because with that I have been able to have the best connection with the coffee growers and I have learned from them.

Agroforestry EngineerFortunately for my professional development I was able to work with the Foundation; the reason for this is that I was able to apply the knowledge acquired in my university courses and, also, to be guided by professionals who helped me to develop a work discipline that helps to be successful.
From my work experience with the foundation in the position of field technician I had the support of my superiors and coworkers to be able to convey the message to the coffee growers and to meet, in the end, the annual or project goals set. After my coordination work I was able to learn about budgets, planning, personnel management and completion of activities that helped me to round my education and that play a part, today, in my current work.

Agroindustry EngineeringAt the Carcafe Foundation we were able to shake the hands of the producers and to support them by working together; for me it was an enriching experience in many aspects: we learned to work with the boots on, to give everything for our producers, recognizing their value and that of their families. Each project is a new challenge and a new opportunity to learn to do it better. I take with me all the smiles from that closeness with the producer, an enlarged team that puts its best foot forward to do it better every day, on top of the satisfaction of helping to change lives.

Technical assistantMy name is Ruth Daly Romero, I work as technical assistant at Fundacion Carcafe. This work experience with coffee growers is very interesting and opens up many learning possibilities. I can learn at the same time as I am transferring know-how, teaching and demonstrating. Working in my own region gives me the opportunity to contribute to coffee growing families so their farms become their businesses and for me it's pleasing see the smiles at our arrival to their farms, it reflects how grateful they are for the great support we're making.
